Little League: Milton rolls to another decisive win

SOFTBALL

MIFFLINBURG — So far this postseason the Milton 9-10 Division All-Star team has picked up where last year's squad left off.

After a 25-run win in its first game, Milton kept on rolling by taking a 15-0, four-inning victory over Warrior Run in the second round of the District 13 tournament played at Fifth Street Field.

Milton, which won the Western PA Qualifier last year before finishing fourth in the state for the second consectutive season, got two hits and two RBIs from both Taylor Gessner and Michelle Hackenberg.

Leighton Chappell added an RBI triple for Milton, which finds itself in the winners' bracket final with Berwick. That game is set for Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Warrior Run falls into the elimination bracket and faces the winner of Thursday's game between South Columbia and Lewisburg on Saturday at 3 p.m.

■ Berwick 15, Mifflinburg 9

MIFFLINBURG — Nadia Scicchitano not only had three hits, a home run and four RBIs in the game, but also got the victory in the circle for Berwick in a 9-10 Division winners' bracket game at Fifth Street Field.

Abby Lohr had two hits and scored two runs, while Emily Stauffer had two hits and three runs for Mifflinburg, which also got a double, two RBIs and a run from Katie Raker.

The loss puts Mifflinburg into an elimination bracket matchup with the winner of Thursday's game between Shikellamy-Acorn and Danville. That game is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.
