GIRLS BASKETBALL
LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP -- Entering Saturday's Heartland Athletic Conference Division II showdown with Loyalsock, Lewisburg only led by a single game in the conference standings.
Emily Lesher helped change all of that as her triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks paved the way for Lewisburg's 51-43 victory.
"We now have a two-game lead over them in the league standings, and it was huge to get a win up there," said Lewisburg coach Phil Stamm, whose team improves to 15-2, 9-1 in the conference.
Jenny Meslener added 15 points for the Green Dragons.
Leading Loyalsock (11-6, 7-3) was Sami Lane, who scored 21 points.
Selinsgrove 36, Juniata 35
LEWISTOWN -- Baskets by Brooke Greak and Lauren Hackenburg with under 40 seconds remaining in the game lifted the Seals to the victory in the 3rd annual Cancer Classic at Lewistown High School.
Selinsgrove (5-9) was down by three late in the game before Greak's basket brought the Seals to within one before Hackenburg's basket with under 11 seconds left put the team up one.
KateLynn Strickler and Ebony Lewis each scored 11 points to lead Selinsgrove, with Lewis also adding nine rebounds coming off the bench.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Central Col. 48, Selinsgrove 35
ALMEDIA -- The Blue Jays outscored the Seals 27-16 in the second half to pull away for the Heartland Athletic Conference cross-over matchup.
Selinsgrove (8-9) got to within six at one point in the second half, but when the Seals resorted to fouling in order to cut into the lead Central put the game away by making 11 of its 12 foul shots.
Ryan Keiser, just hours after being named the Player of the Year on WNEP's Super 16 (football) Dream Team, scored 13 points and pulled down 18 rebounds.
Mount Carmel 71, Midd-West 58
MIDDLEBURG -- Led by Seth Scicchitano's game-high 21 points, three players scored in double figures to lead the Red Tornadoes to the HAC-II win.
Mike Domaleski added 17 points and T.J. Heromin had 14 for Mount Carmel.
Jeremy Payne led Midd-West (4-12, 2-5 HAC-II) with 17 points and Mike Iaderosa chipped in 14.
Lewisburg 69, Warrior Run 22
TURBOTVILLE -- Shakiel Rice powered the Green Dragons to the HAC-II victory by pouring in a game-high 27 points.
Lewisburg improves to 9-7, 5-4 in the conference. Warrior Run falls to 1-16, 0-9.
Line Mountain 47, Lourdes Regional 46
COAL TOWNSHIP -- Mike Marciniak continued his hot shooting as he tallied 20 points to lead the Eagles (10-7) to the non-league win.
Zack Chesney scored 17 points and Matt Gilger added 12 to lead Lourdes.
Greenwood 65, East Juniata 24
MILLERSTOWN -- Andrew Rhoads and Jordann Ferguson scored 12 points apiece as the Wildcats took the dominating Tri-Valley League win. Greenwood improves to 16-1, 3-0 in league play.
Loyalsock 84, Southern Columbia 51
CATAWISSA -- Three players in double figures, led by Antoine Ellison-Love's game-high 19, gave the Lancers the HAC-II victory. Alex Fidler led the Tigers with 11.
Milton at Shamokin
COAL TOWNSHIP -- The HAC-I matchup between the Black Panthers and the Indians was cancelled due to a fatal accident involving three Milton students.
WRESTLING
Shikellamy 52, Bald Eagle Area 8
WINGATE -- Keyed by big wins from Jake Witmer at 103 pounds and Miles Wolfe at 152, the Braves trounced the Eagles in a Big 7 League match.
Witmer decisioned Justin Gievrock, who took fourth in last year's Class AAA regionals last year and who previously defeated Witmer 10-2 in a dual meet a year ago.
Wolfe picked up an 8-2 decision over Coleman Hoffman, who is a returning state qualifier.
Joe Zoda (125), Jake Teisher (130), Mike Barnhart (140) and Nolan Blackwell (285) added pins for Shikellamy (13-3, 4-1 BSL).
New Oxford Tournament
NEW OXFORD -- Freshman 103-pounder Zain Retherford, facing the toughest competition of his young career, was one of three Line Mountain wrestlers to finish second in the tournament in which the Eagles were the lone Class AA entry.
Also taking runner-up finishes for Line Mountain, which had seven place-winners overall, were Adam Kritzer (125) and Travis Erdman (145).
Retherford, who entered the two-day tournament having not given up a point all season, tasted defeat for the first time in his career when he lost in the semifinals to the eventual champion, Hempfield's Austin Miller, 7-3. Miller is ranked No. 12 in the state by Pennsylvania Wrestling Rankings at 112 in Class AAA.
But Retherford did post victories over the state's No. 2-ranked Class AAA 103-pounder, Central Dauphin's Tyler Dippery, 6-2 and 7-2 (the latter in the consolation final. Retherford is now 26-1.
Kritzer lost in the finals 8-6 to Tre' Miller-Scott of Central Dauphin East. Erdman lost 8-4 in the finals to Blue Mountain's Josh Kindig. The latter is ranked No. 1 in AAA at 140 and a three-time state place-winner, winning the title last year.
The other Eagle place-winners were Mason Zimmerman, fourth at 119; Ryan Paul, sixth at 125; Bryce Martz, sixth at 215; and Seth Lansberry, eighth at 112.
Elizabethtown Tournament
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Selinsgrove senior 215-pounder Spencer Myers went 5-0 on the day with four pins to win the championship. Cody Zechman placed second at 135 for the Seals, going 4-1 with three falls. His lone loss was a 6-2 decision to Jeremy Rivera, ranked No. 16 in Class AAA at 130.
The Seals finished fourth among in the eight-team event.
East Juniata Duals
COCOLAMUS -- Warrior Run won the tournament with a 5-0 record, including a 47-24 victory over Danville, which finished second at 4-1.
The Defenders improved to 16-4 and the Ironmen are 19-6.
Milton at Lewisburg
LEWISBURG -- The HAC cross-over match between the Black Panthers and the Green Dragons has been cancelled due to a fatal accident involving three Milton students.

MILTON -- Cody Milheim had a 705 series and Kyle Stahl had a 677 as the Black Panthers ran away for the Heartland Athletic Conference win, 3,161 pins to 2,506.
Milheim had games of 235, 224 and 246, while Stahl had games of 227, 202 and 248 for Milton.
Mifflinburg 4, Lewisburg 0
SELINSGROVE -- Caleb Walter had a 675 series and Wes Doebler had a 650 as the Wildcats took the HAC win.
Walter had games of 242, 204 and 229, while Doebler had games of 210 and 245.
Donald Ross had a 209 game and 603 series for Lewisburg (8-20).
Selinsgrove 4, Central Columbia 0
SELINSGROVE -- Behind games of 226, 209 and 234, Brian Conrad posted a 669 series as the Seals cruised past the Blue Jays by 670 pins. Robert Bingaman and Dustin Colburn also had a 600 series for Selinsgrove (16-4), with a 616 and 603, respectively.

CATAWISSA -- Jake Snyder's 690 series on games of 213, 249 and 228 helped give the Braves the HAC victory.
Kyle Attinger and Jared Lawrence added series of 595 and 594, respectively, for Shikellamy (19-5).

Milton 4, Danville 0
MILTON -- Devin Dreese had a 218 game and 559 series to help lift the Black Panthers to the Heartland Athletic Conference win.
Mifflinburg 4, Lewisburg 0
SELINSGROVE -- Chelsey Myers' 225 game and a 539 series, while Brianna Hollenbach had a 214 game and 541 series to lead the Wildcats to the HAC win.
Selinsgrove 4, Central Columbia 0
SELINSGROVE -- Chelsea Wildt had a high game of 244 and a high series of 598 to lead the Seals (15-5) to the HAC victory.
Shikellamy 4, Southern Columbia 0
CATAWISSA -- Shelby Derr, Danielle Bordner and McKensie Haines each had a 600 series as the Braves won the HAC match.
Derr led the way with a 690 series and a high game of 243, while Bordner had a 636 series and 245 game and Haines had a 634 series for Shikellamy (22-2).
