HS roundup: Mifflinburg girls earn second victory

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MIFFLINBURG -- With four players scoring in double figures, Mifflinburg picked up its second win in convincing fashion with a 71-36 drubbing of Hughesville in an HAC-II matchup Friday.

Becca Kratzer led Mifflinburg (2-15 overall) with 17 points, 10 steals and five assists. Jackie Harriman added 13 points, and Sara Stauffer had 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

n Selinsgrove 52, Jersey Shore 31

SELINSGROVE -- The one-two punch of Brianna Brancato and Nicole Deckard lifted the Seals to the HAC-I victory.

Brancato tallied 18 points and Deckard had 17 for Selinsgrove (13-4, 8-3 HAC-I), which used an 18-6 second quarter to break the game open.

n Line Mountain 55, Halifax 20

MANDATA -- Kasey Long and Mikhail Whitcomb both outscored the Wildcats themselves as the Eagles took the Tri-Valley League victory.

Long and Whitcomb tallied 21 points apiece for Line Mountain (18-0 overall). Whitcomb also had nine rebounds and five steals, while Long pulled down nine caroms as well for the Eagles.

n Central Columbia 46, Lewisburg 41

LEWISBURG -- The Blue Jays closed the game strong by outscoring the Green Dragons 20-12 in the fourth quarter to pull out the HAC-II win.

Maria Kelleher led Lewisburg (8-9, 5-6 HAC-II) with 13 points, while Lois Lesher led the Green Dragons with 11 rebounds to go along with her eight points.

n Milton 45, Midd-West 25

MIDDLEBURG -- Katelyn Gensel's game-high 17 points led the Black Panthers to the HAC-I win. Milton improves to 5-13, 3-9 in league play. Midd-West falls to 0-18, 0-11.

n Shamokin 29, Montoursville 23

COAL TOWNSHIP -- The Indians pulled out the low-scoring HAC-I affair with a 10-point fourth quarter. Steph Pancher and Keena Zalar had eight points apiece for Shamokin (14-5, 10-1 HAC-I).

n So. Williamsport 72, Warrior Run 39

TURBOTVILLE -- The Mounties scored 42 points through the second and third quarters to blow the game wide open for the HAC-II victory.

Tierney Pfirman had 26 points and Jamie Steer added 23 for South Williamsport (16-2). Tay Parker had 12 points for Warrior Run (13-6).

n Lourdes Regional 68, Millersburg 37

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Rachel Schultz scored 19 points and Sarah Getchey added 14 for the Red Raiders in the nonleague win.

Nikki Komara chipped in 10 assists, eight rebounds and four points for Lourdes (16-3 overall).

n Sunbury Chr. 59, New Covenant 7

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Carissa Erdman scored 14 points and had six rebounds and four assists as the Eagles took the ACAA win. Abby Daddario added 18 points and Tiffany Billings had 11 for Sunbury Christian (17-4, 10-1 ACAA).

n Juniata Mennonite 40,

Meadowbrook Chr. 35

MIFFLINTOWN -- A late run by the Lions came up short as they fell in the ACAA matchup. Madison Burrows tallied 13 points to lead Meadowbrook (13-6 overall).

BOYS BASKETBALL

n Sunbury Chr. 44, New Covenant 38

NORTHUMBERLAND -- The Eagles erased a 16-0 first-quarter deficit to come back and claim the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association victory.

Adam Clemens keyed the win for Sunbury Christian (11-10 overall) by scoring 16 points. Clarence Kelly added seven blocks for the Eagles.

n Meadowbrook Chr. 44,

Juniata Mennonite 37

MIFFLINTOWN -- A quick start by the Lions was enough to give them the ACAA win. Will Lynd tallied 16 points to lead the winning effort for Meadowbrook (15-6, 10-2 ACAA).

n Northumberland Chr. 60,

Walnut Street Christian 21

JERSEY SHORE -- John Hummel tallied 13 points, and another six players scored at least six points or higher for the Warriors in the ACAA matchup. Northumberland Christian improves to 20-5, 12-0 in league play.

BOYS BOWLING

n Lewisburg 4, Southern Columbia 0

LEWISBURG -- A 634 series from Andrew Hans helped the Green Dragons to the HAC win. Hans had high games of 221 and 223 for Lewisburg (14-10).

GIRLS BOWLING

n Lewisburg 3, Southern Columbia 1

LEWISBURG -- A 596 series from Amanda Shoemaker and a 578 from Rebekah Sheesley lifted the Green Dragons to the HAC win. Shoemaker had a high game of 233, while Sheesley had a 217 for Lewisburg (7-17).
