WATSONTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Ned Yocum, of Watsontown, observed their 70th wedding anniversary recently.
They were married July 19, 1942, by the Rev. Albert Klepfer at the home of the bride’s parents in Montgomery.
Mrs. Yocum, the former Lucille Bender, is the daughter of the late Freeman and Marie (Bower) Bender.
Her husband, a native of Watsontown, is the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Prowant) Yocum. He served with the Air Force in World War II in the South Pacific, New Guinea, from 1941-1944. He retired from the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot in 1974.
Mr. Yocum is the oldest living member of the Watsontown Fire Department, serving since 1944.
They are members of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Watsontown.
They are the parents of a son, Dennis Yocum, and a daughter, Jacquelyn Richart, both of Milton. There are also five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.
