SUNBURY — Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Lahr Sr., of State Route 147, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at festivities hosted by their family at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dornsife. More than 200 guests attended. The couple were married at St. Peter’s on April 15, 1961 by the Rev. Jacob Singer.
Mrs. Lahr is the former Daisy Mae Erdman, daughter of the late Harry and Irene Erdman. She is the former owner and operator of Lahr’s Treat, of rural Sunbury, which she ran until her retirement in 1998.
Mr. Lahr is the son of the late Levi and Mary Lahr. Norman is the former owner and operator of Lahr’s Backyard Barns and Garages, of rural Herndon and rural Sunbury, until his retirement in 2002.
The couple are members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and the Herndon Senior Action Center. They are the parents of three daughters and one son, Jean Aurand and husband Jeff, Cheryl Weaver and husband Dave, Norman Lahr Jr. and wife Teresa and Mae Lesher and husband Lamar Jr. They also have nine grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy Aurand, Joanna Weaver, Derek Lahr, Alyssa and Jessica Zimmerman, and Katrina, Morgan and Levi Lesher.
