HUMMELS WHARF — Mr. and Mrs. Carson A. Shrawder, of Hummels Wharf, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently with a party for 22 family members at the Country Cupboard restaurant in Lewisburg.
They were married June 7, 1947, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Herbert Frankford.
Mrs. Shrawder, the former Betty V. Arbogast, is the daughter of the late Edwin S. and Leila R. (Klingler) Arbogast. She is retired from S.R.S. Electric, Hummels Wharf. She is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Her husband is the son of the late Fostes S. and Maude L. Shrawder. He retired as postmaster from the US Postal Service in Hummels Wharf in 1985 and as a partner from S.R.S. Electric in 2006. He is a combat wounded veteran of World War II, and a life member of Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 656, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 24, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631, and a member of American Legion Post 25.
They are the parents of Dane Shrawder and wife Kay, of Unityville, and Barbara Shrawder, Kathy and husband Richard Young, Nancy and husband Brian Mensch, and Chris and wife Stacey, all of Hummels Wharf. There are also eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, with another expected in October.
