DALMATIA — Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Bitting Sr., of Dalmatia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 28, with a pig roast/chicken bar-be-que held at their son’s farm hosted by their children and spouses.
They were married July 28, 1962, in Snydertown at the Rush Baptist Church with Ronald Barcavage and Elmira Bitting of Shamokin serving as best man and matron of honor.
Mrs. Bitting, the former Joan Fessler, is the daughter of the late Richard and Adeline Fessler of Trevorton. She is a homemaker.
Mr. Bitting, is the son of the late Frank and Catharine (Troutman) Bitting of Shamokin. He retired from PennDOT in 1999 as a transportation construction inspector supervisor.
They are the parents of two children and their spouses, Richard and Angela Bitting, of Dalmatia and Kristen and Luke Wilkinson, of Dornsife. The grandparents of six grandchildren, Richard Bitting III, Benjamin Bitting, and Matthew Bitting, all of Dalmatia, Sherylyn Wilkinson, Abagail Wilkinson, and Brooke Wilkinson, all of Dornsife.
