SUNBURY — Mr. and Mrs. Guy R. Brown, of Market St., Sunbury, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, and Guy’s 90th birthday, at a dinner hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Feb. 14. The couple were married on Guy’s birthday, Feb. 15, 1947 at the Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury by the Rev. J.B. Layne.
Mrs. Brown is the former Ruth Fackler Engle, the daughter of the late Ira and Bernina Engle, who owned the Polar Wave Dairy in Sunbury. A graduate of Sunbury High School, she worked for the Bell Telephone Company for 12 years and as a homemaker.
Mr. Brown is the son of the late Samuel and Daisy Brown. A graduate of Sunbury High School, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the Navy after graduation and served six years during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he was employed by Coca-Cola in Sunbury and then as a conductor for the former Pennsylvania Railroad, later Conrail. He retired in 1979 with 30 years of service. Mr. Brown was a part-time farmer for six years while employed by the railroad.
The couple have four children, Wade and Joan Brown, Ruth Ann and Stoney Stahl and David and Crystal Brown, all of Sunbury, and Stephen and Barbara Brown, of Selinsgrove. They also have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
