NEW BERLIN — The Inn at New Berlin was the setting for an intimate family wedding joining Hind Tazi, of San Francisco, and Joseph Bernath, of Washington, D.C. in marriage. Judge Thomas A. James conducted the ceremony on Dec. 20, 2009. A larger celebration will follow in June at Hind’s family home in Tangier, Morocco.
The bride chose her sister, Warda Tazi, of Paris, France, to be her maid of honor.
The bridegroom’s brother, Michael Bernath, of Palmetto Bay, Fla., was best man.
The bride is the daughter of Rachida Saidi, of Tangier, and the late Abdelkhalek Tazi. She is a 1997 graduate of the American School in Tangier. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Chicago and an MPA from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. She is a portfolio manager with Kiva, an international microfinance lending organization in California.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. Albert and Mrs. Mary Bernath, of Danville. He is a 1996 graduate of Danville Area High School and received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University. He served two years in the Ukraine with the Peace Corps and then earned an MPA in international relations from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School in 2005. He is a foreign affairs officer in the Department of State.
The couple will reside in Washington, D.C.
