SUNBURY — Mr. and Mrs. Daniel C. Welker, of Sunbury, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party on Aug. 15 at the American Legion in Sunbury. The couple were married on Aug. 29, 1959 by Fr. Scherer at St. Mauritius Church, Ashland.
Mrs. Welker is the former Mary Bulka, daughter of the late Mary and Walter Bulka. She is a graduate of Ashland School of Nursing RN program.
Mr. Welker is the son of the late Josephine and Henry Welker. He is a graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics. After retiring from North Schuykill High School, he is still teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes High School.
They are the parents of five children, Daniel Henry, of Sunbury; James, of New Rochelle, N.Y.; Maryjo, and her husband Keith Schaefer, of Collegeville; Michael and his wife Wendy, of Willow Springs, N.C. and Steven and his wife Sherry, of Sunbury. They have eight grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca and Zachary Schaefer, and Jackson, Logan, Mikayla, Nicholas and Joshua Welker.
In addition to the party, Mr. and Mrs. Welker enjoyed a trip to Skytop Lodge, in the Poconos.
