LEWISBURG — The south portico of the Slifer House Museum, Lewisburg, was the setting for the outdoor ceremony uniting Rachel Elizabeth Wert and Anthony John Mattera in marriage. The Rev. Charles Cole, pastor of Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury, performed the ceremony at 2 p.m. May 30.
The bride is the daughter of John and Linda Wert, of Selinsgrove. The bridegroom is the son of Susan Mattera, of Sunbury, and the late Vincent Mattera.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Deanna Mull, of Northumberland, to be her matron of honor, and Melanie Newcomer, of Spring City, to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Jamy Stenger, of Shelton, Conn.
Matthew Saxton, of Sunbury, was best man. Groomsmen were Timothy Forbes, of Winfield, and Zachary Carl, of Sunbury.
Scripture readings were by Kate Shemeley of Winchester, Va. and Michelle Siegel, of Selinsgrove. Guest book attendants were Laura Blackledge, of Clarks Summit and Caroline DiLorenzo, of King of Prussia.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the Valley String Quartet. Soloist was Cera Klinger, of Schuykill Haven, the bridegroom’s niece.
The Italian themed reception for 140 guests was held at La Primavera. The rehearsal dinner was at the Country Cupboard.
Following a Mediterranean cruise with dockings in France, Spain, Italy, and Malta, the newlyweds are living in Sunbury.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School and a 2004 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in history. She is the manager of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates at the Susquehanna Valley Mall, Selinsgrove.
The bridegroom is a 1997 graduate of Shikellamy High School. He is employed by the Weis Markets milk plant, Sunbury.
