Mr. and Mrs. K. Edward Mullen


REBUCK — K. Edward and Hilda Mullen, of Rebuck, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at a dinner reception at The Hotel Hershey hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Astrid Mullen, and their granddaughter, Christine, and her husband, Brett Barker.

The couple were married September 16, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, by the Rev. Samuel Stauffer.

Mrs. Mullen is the former Hilda E. Kahler, daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Kahler. She was employed as a cook at the Leck Kill Elementary School, retiring in 1981. Hilda enjoys baking, knitting, and growing plants.

Mr. Mullen is the son of the late Homer and Alice Mullen. He owned and operated Mullen’s Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1981. He enjoys doing repair work.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Mullen are active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leck Kill. They have served in many ministries over the years. Hilda sang in the choir for 45 years, and served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was also president of the Lutheran Church Women and head of the kitchen for many years. Edward served on the church council, was Sunday School Superintendent and has been a choir member for 60 years. He continues to share his musical talents with the choir.
