NEW BERLIN — Mike Doresky had hoped to have Korek Designs, which specializes in custom paint and restoration, paint his bike but after his cancer diagnosis he knew he’d never have the money for it. His friend, Kevin Hestor, approached Korek’s with his plan to redo his sick friend’s bike. Moved by the gesture, they volunteered to do the job for the cost of the supplies.
Ryan Korek did the custom painting. “They picked the color and asked for a tribal theme and an M, for Mike ‘Meatball’ Doresky,” Korek said.
“Kevin is very talanted and artistic,” Korek said of Hestor. “He gave a lot of artistic direction for this project.”
Otherwise, Korek’s designs come from his head: “I don’t sleep at night — I roll an idea around in my head instead,” Korek laughed. “Then I waste rolls and rolls of tape laying out the my idea. This isn’t the kind of thing you can draw, because it looks different once you lay it out because it’s not a flat surface.”
Dorseky has agreed to put the motorcycle on display for the winter in the Korek Designs showroom, 1030 New Berlin Mountain Road, New Berlin. For more information, call 966-3100 or visit www.korekdesigns.com.
