Selling poll results

— I’d like to respond to the accusations and comments made by Yvonne Morgan regarding Congressman Carney.

She cites as “evidence” that Mr. Marino is “ahead by as much as 15 points” a poll funded by and for Ayres, McHenry & Associates of Alexandria, Va. Ayres, co-founded by longtime GOP political operative Whit Ayres, did the poll for the American Action Forum, a nonprofit, conservative think tank co-founded earlier this year and headed by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the top economic adviser for Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

It should come as no great surprise that Republican-leaning pollsters will find (and sell) poll results that look good to their side.

Ms. Morgan also claimed that Carney voted for the “failed bailouts.” As a matter of fact, he voted against the Wall Street bailouts.

Three times.

Chris Carney is a moderate Democrat. I believe, along with many others, that he represents our district well.

He is one of us, and he shares our values. He has strong family values, he’s a military reservist, and he’s got the intelligence to realize that the last thing we need to do right now is allow the people who ran the economic bus into the ditch back into the driver’s seat.

Our current economic problems didn’t happen overnight, and they aren’t going to be fixed overnight, either.
