Why do poor people get poorer?
In the '50s and '60s, jobs were plentiful. Then Westinghouse, Hall's Motor, Dalmatia Blouse, etc. would give the whole plant a 5- or 10-cent an hour raise. But the unions changed all that.
Who determines what the cost of living is and why is it in a percent ratio?
If it costs $300 more for insurance, gas, electricity and food, etc., then the fair thing would be for everybody's wages to increase by $300. Each federal worker, state worker, teacher and Social Security recipient should receive $300 more to live on.
Instead, I understand, some people on Social Security are only going to get $2 a month more to live on while people earning $30,000 (at 2 percent) get $600 more and those earning $70,000 get $1,400 and they call that cost of living increase fair?
Meanwhile, all people are being taxed to pay for the people getting an unfair increase in wages. People on low incomes are taxed more for their property, more when they go for groceries (the containers hold less food), gas is higher than the $1.89 when Obama first took office -- even cold pills only contain 15 instead of 18 capsules.
Retired factory workers, waitresses, small business owners, and farmers never got top wages in years past, especially in Northumberland County, so there are a lot of people who were just able to pay the bare minimum into Social Security.
How can our senior citizens survive on a measly $2 a month increase?
Meanwhile, our government keeps taxing more and spending more. The Senate has not had a budget for four years yet that is their duty. Their duty is to live within that budget like every American has to do. It is the printing of money that causes inflation and, quite frankly, is a tax on every person.
The House has passed more than 50 bills for increasing competitiveness for U.S. manufacturers, help job creators, fairer tax code, maximize domestic energy production, protecting next generation energy security act, and reversing Obama's offshore moratorium act, etc. -- 39 are still stuck in Obama's Democratic God-hating Senate.
