Don't forget dunce's cap

Degg Starks "recipe" is indeed illustrative of our safety problem. It shows how any one of us can go, in a moment, from sound to irrational reasoning.

I would suggest the armed teacher in an emergency should stand in a corner, so not to be outflanked, carry a Thompson machine gun and wear a dunce's cap for identification.
