I think everyone needs to stop playing politics with our children! How are the polititians, government buildings, and county offices protected? Metal detectors and armed guards all the way from county government to the president of the United States. Stop passing laws and legislation that make yourselves look good but harm everyone else by taking away the tools to protect your families, business and property. The government will not change society with all of the smut and violence on every TV channel along with video games. So either educate and arm the teachers and staff or hire an armed guard for the schools.
Money doesn’t replace our children. I would volunteer to stand watch over our children for free. The presence of security in a school is a must and not a choice — my child is my world. It is very important for children to be taught that police, fire, and other safety personnel are there to help them, not harm them, and that they are not to be afraid of them.
God bless those at Sandy Hook Elementary School and thank you Point Township police and all the other responding agencies on Dec. 20.
