I read with interest the letter by James L. Ulrich of Danville in the Jan. 18 edition of The Daily Item.
Did Mr. Ulrich read the footnote that Degg Stark is a retired police officer?
I work for an area school district and am a retired Army staff sergeant. I have been well trained in the use of weapons and how to defend myself and others.
Gun or not, I will fight back if confronted with a situation where a life is in danger.
I now ask Mr. Ulrich if he would like to be the one standing in the corner (wearing a dunce's cap) while someone points a Thompson machine gun at him, while he has no way to defend himself.
