NEW BERLIN —
LETTER: This letter is in reference to the Sept. 15 “100-plus” motorcycle spectacle that rode through Sunbury.
Looking back 30 or 40 years ago to the 1970s and 80s, Sunbury seemed to be a relatively quiet, peaceful place to live.
Lately, however, for whatever reason or cause, the cyclists have managed to violate noise abatement laws, congest traffic and create a somewhat “tacky” atmosphere in the area. There are many jurisdictions in Pennsylvania and cities in other states where such activities would not be permitted.
Therefore, I think the problem should be addressed by the mayor of Sunbury, the police force and the Northumberland County Board of Commissioners, with the recommendation that future displays of this sort be discontinued.
Judy Wertman,
Sunbury
