Wildlife commission

Dave Hafer's recent letter regarding bobcats was right on the money. More people like to observe and enjoy nature than those who like to kill it.

The bobcat, like many other species, was hunted and trapped almost to extinction. The reason the bobcat has made a comeback is because it was protected from hunting and trapping!

Desperate to stay in business, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is allowing the hunting and trapping of the bobcat again. Allowing the use of dogs to hunt with brings back horror stories from the dark ages. Do we not learn from our past mistakes? Why do a handful of people have the final say on the fate of our wildlife?

We need a wildlife commission that will put into practice sound wildlife programs that will plan for the overall health of the ecosystem, not a Game Commission that panders to a minority of hunters and trappers.

If change does not happen within the PGC, the bobcat will again be in peril, and we stood by and let it happen.
