The tax reform question failed in Lewisburg and Mifflinburg school districts, according to unofficial results.
In Lewisburg with all 11 precincts reporting, those opposed to the Act 1 tax reform outnumber those in favor of it, 1,349-1,323.
Voters were asked to add 1 percent of earned income tax in exchange for a $410 property tax rebate.
In Mifflinburg with nine of 11 precincts reporting, those opposed to the tax reform outnumber those in favor of it, 1,245-1,168.
Voters were asked to add 0.6 percent of earned income tax in exchange for a $200 property tax rebate.

Ringing in the votes on election day
Michael Dennehy got to ring a bell and rather loudly at times Tuesday night. Before announcing figures from balloting of each precinct from the general election in the Montour County Courthouse, he got everyone's attention by ringing a large cowbell.

Five Montour County officials were unopposed for re-election Tuesday.

Durlin elected to Limestone supers
Limestone Township had the sole municipal race in Montour County with Democrat Dennis L. Durlin winning election as a township supervisor.

A newcomer running for Riverside Borough Council was able to unseat an incumbent in Tuesday's election by a slim margin of 36 votes.

There will be three new faces on the Danville Area School Board as the board president lost his bid for re-election Tuesday in a field of six candidates.

Schooley unseats Coira for treasurer
Betty Jane Coira lost in her bid for election as Montour County treasurer. Republican Kim T. Schooley received 1,935 votes compared with 1,847 cast for Mrs. Coira.

Montour County will be under Democratic control in January. Voters elected two Democrats, including an incumbent, and a Republican who was the top vote getter among commissioner candidates Tuesday.

Democratic candidate Vinny Clausi got the highest number of votes for Northumberland County commissioner in Tuesday’s general election, driving out Republican incumbent Sam Deitrick.

Union County District Attorney D. Peter Johnson kept challenger Andrew D. Lyons at bay Tuesday and won a fourth term with 53 percent of the vote.

Occupational tax out in Warrior Run
TURBOTVILLE — Voters in the Warrior Run School District have voted to eliminate the occupation tax in the district and replace it with an increased earned income tax, but it was a close vote.
