State court to review election nomination procedures

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is wading into a dispute over whether the people who collect signatures to put candidates on the ballot have to live in the district where the candidate is running.

The court set a Wednesday deadline for parties to file briefs in the matter of Carl Stevenson, who was thrown off the ballot in his attempt to win election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Stevenson wants to run as an Independent against incumbent Republican Rep. Douglas Reichley and a Democratic nominee. The district spans parts of Berks and Lehigh counties.
