MILTON — A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the 2010 theft of $77,000 in stock certificates, cash and weapons from a Union County home.
Christopher Alan Surber, 22, of Midway, Ga., was extradited from Texas, where he was arrested on a warrant. He is being held in the Union County Jail, Lewisburg, in lieu of $100,000 bail for his involvement in the December 2010 burglary of Terry Gonzales’ Creek Road home in White Deer Township, Union County.
State police at Milton allege Surber, along with his wife, Leann Guisewite, 28, also of Midway; Brant Zeiber, of Milton; and Jeffrey R. Adams, of Shamokin, burglarized the home.
The thefts were discovered on Dec. 7, 2010, when Gonzales returned from a trip.
Two days later, Zeiber and Adams were arrested after Milton borough police responded to a reported shooting at 110 Myrtle St. and allegedly found items stolen from Gonzales’ home.
At the Myrtle Street apartment, which was leased by Surber and Guisewite, police found six shotguns purportedly belonging to Gonzales, a prescription medication container belonging to Gonzales’ father and several coin sets, according to court records. A fingerprint left near a window of Gonzales’ home matched Adams’ print, court records said.
According to police, Guisewite told them that she knew Gonzales would be away during the first week of December 2010 and suggested committing the burglary.
Guisewite, Surber, Adams and Zeiber initially removed coins and a small safe, which after being emptied of its contents was left burned along a rural road.
They allegedly returned to Gonzales’ home the following day and took more collectible coins, stock certificates and 12 handguns and shotguns.
Surber and Guisewite returned a third time on their own and stole medication and alcohol, court records said.
Surber was arraigned Monday by on-call District Judge Lori R. Hackenberg on three counts of felony burglary and four counts of theft by unlawful taking.
