MIFFLINBURG —
Two women were charged Monday after a motorist discovered a toddler walking along Route 45 just east of Mifflinburg and then returned him home only to discover the 2-year-old boy outside unattended again a day later.
State police said that Marcia Cooney, a motorist on Route 45, notice the boy walking along Route 45 near the Raup’s Funeral Home around 5 p.m. on July 12. Seeing no adult with the toddler, she stopped her car, put the four-way flashers on and then took the boy to a home at 8580 Old Turnpike Road, where she knocked on a window to get the occupant’s attention. Felina Robbins answered the knock, took the boy, then immediately began to scold him.
The next day, Cooney was driving to work around 7 a.m. when she noticed the child outside by himself again. She stopped and discovered the child sitting by himself on a front porch with a package of hamburger buns. She called police and waited 40 minutes for a trooper arrive. Cooney told police that while she waited for the trooper to arrive, no adult came outside to find out what she wanted or check on the child.
