DANVILLE — A Northumberland man was injured when he avoided a collision with another vehicle and was knocked off his scooter at about 1 p.m. Monday, according to police.
Thomas A. Probst, 50, was traveling north on Route 11 in the right lane, just north of Mill Street, when an unknown vehicle merged from the left lane and into the right lane in front of him. He braked to avoid the accident, his brakes locked and he fell off his 125 Yamaha scooter, Danville Sgt. William Wilt III said.
A Danville ambulance took him to Geisinger Medical Center. Wilt said he had back and hip pain. Wilt said he was wearing a helmet.
A hospital spokeswoman had no information on his condition at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The Danville Fire Department and Danville fire police also responded.
