Two seriously injured in Route 44 crash at McEwensville

McEWENSVILLE - Two people were seriously injured Monday afternoon when two vehicles collided on Route 44 in McEwensville.

Charles Bliss, 75, of Trout Run and his passenger, Irene Bliss, 75, also of Trout Run were both transported by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center following the 3:53 p.m. crash.

The other driver, Linda McNeal, 58, of Watsontown, had minor injuries, according to police.

State police at Milton said Bliss was driving south on Route 44 when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the Susqhenanna Trail. Police said the Bliss car collided with McNeal's Jeep Cherokee in the intersection, pushing the car into the front yard of St. John's United Church of Christ. McNeal's Jeep spun around and came to rest partially on the road near the McEwensville Post Office.

Police were assisted by volunteeers fromt he Watsontown and Turbotville fire departments, the EMS team from Evangelical Community Hospital, Watsontown police and the Geisinger Life Flight crew.
