MIDDLEBURG — A 17-year-old boy from Mount Pleasant Mills was taken to Geisinger Medical Center on Wednesday after his car slid off the Middleburg-New Berlin Highway, hit an embankment and rolled five times in a field, authorities said.
Trooper Vicki R. Spencer, of state police at Selinsgrove, listed the driver’s name as Michael A. Goodling, but a nursing supervisor at Geisinger in Danville was unable to give his condition.
Spencer said Goodling was driving south in a 2007 Ford Focus wagon at 5:30 p.m., when for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle. It slid off the road and became airborne for about 25 feet down a steep embankment. When it hit the ground, the Ford began to roll before coming to a stop in an upright position, about 500 yards off the right side of the road.
Goodling was taken to Geisinger by New Berlin ambulance.
Spencer said Goodling will be cited with driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed and a restraint system violation.
