Middleburg man killed in traffic accident


MIDDLEBURG – A 44-year-old Middleburg man was killed in a two-vehicle traffic accident Wednesday night in Franklin Township, Snyder County, according to the state police at Selinsgrove.

Police identified the victim as Steven A. Walter. Police said the accident occurred about 10:50 p.m. on the Middleburg-New Berlin highway, north of Route 104.

Walter was prounced dead at the scene.

Police said Myron Myers, 33, of New Columbia, was driving an out of control pickup truck on the wet road when it crossed the center line and struck Walter's vehicle in the southbound lane.

Myers was take to the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where he was treated and later released.

Police were assisted by the Reliance Hose and Ambulance Company and Snyder County coroner's office. Route 104 was closed for several hours.
