MIDDLEBURG -- A 59-year-old Michigan man is in Snyder County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail awaiting trial on charges of sexually assaulting two young children.
Carlton Edgar Landis, of Warren, Mich., is accused of improperly touching a 13-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl and having them touch one another on several occasions between February 2002 and February 2004 in a West Market Street, Middleburg home, state police at Selinsgrove said.
According to the court complaint, the boy said Landis taught him to "play house" which involved improper touching on about five occasions.
The girl said Landis committed similar offenses against her, court records said.
The victims said the older man would have them fondle one another while he was in a closet and watched through a partially opened door.
Landis, who waived a preliminary hearing before District Judge Willis E. Savidge this week, is being held on five counts each of indecent assault, indecent assault with a person less than 13 years of age and corruption of minors.
