RICHFIELD — An 18-year-old Richfield man was arrested after police said he attacked his family, grabbing a 7-year-old boy by the throat and throwing him in a pool and threatening his father with a knife.
State police at Selinsgrove said Kevin Edward Derr, 14323 Route 35, assaulted several members of his family — as well as a neighbor — while they were at home Thursday afternoon.
Kevin picked the 7-year-old boy, who shares the same address, up by the throat and threw him in the pool, shoved his mother Lisa and struck his neighbor, Kimberly Try, in the face several times, knocking her out, police said. He also struck his father, Kevin Jack Derr, in the face and the back of the head and threatened him with a knife.
Kevin Edward Derr was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and four counts of harassment. He was arraigned and bail was set at $75,000 bail at 10 percent.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 15.
