SELINSGROVE -- Richfield resident Shelly Messimer and a hoard of other locals plan to take to the streets today in support of Barack Obama.
Messimer said she expects as many as 100 Obama supporters to organize today at 10 a.m. at Selinsgrove Elementary School for a rally around town.
"We want to let Pennsylvania know that we do have a chance to have Obama as president, and that it's OK to vote for a black man," Messimer said on Friday.
Messimer is excited about the prospect of electing the first-ever African-American president.
"I'm proud of my country at this moment," she said.
Nearly 40 people have already signed up for Messimer's Obama march through Barack's Web site -- www.barackobama.com. She expects that many and more to turn up today with signs and chants at the ready.
"If people aren't getting involved, I think it's going to be a lot harder for them to actually pay attention to what's going on with the candidates," Messimer said.
