SUNBURY — A former county commissioner is blasting Commissioner Rich Shoch and defending Northumberland County’s choice when facing a transportation dilemma.
Faced with a $500,00 loss for providing mostly free rides to county residents, leaders had no choice but to use a York County provider, says Merle Phillips, a former county commissioner and 30-year state representative.
Phillips was responding to Shoch’s Oct. 2 letter to the editor in which he wrote that poor planning from the county was to blame it having to use Rabbittransit, which coordinates shared-ride services in Northumberland, York and Adams counties.
