Suspect charged in four burglaries
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS — A suspect has been taken into custody in four burglaries at businesses in Perry and West Perry townships.
Vincent Lloyd Harp, 23, of Mount Pleasant Mills, has been charged with break-ins at Cruiser’s Cafe, Meiserville Inn, Original Italian Pizza and Beck’s Garage, which occurred between midnight and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said they found items from these burglaries plus break-ins in Juniata County in Harp’s home.
Bags of chicken and cauliflower and $11.50 were stolen from Cruiser’s Cafe. A box containing $500 and 20 to 30 gift cards were taken from the Italian eatery. Money and electronic equipment were stolen from the Meiserville Inn.
Harp was arraigned by District Judge Jeffrey Mensch and placed in the Snyder County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Police: Brawl involved gun
SELINSGROVE — A 33-year-old Port Trevorton man was arrested for allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at a 19-year-old man during a dispute.
Borough police officer Eric Mouery charged three men after he was dispatched to 317 S. Market St. to investigate a fight on Tuesday.
Michael Allen Walter, of 1668 Main St., Port Trevorton, allegedly pointed the gun at Jordan Seelye, 19, of 365 Dornsife Road, Northumberland. Walter was charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and a drug violation. Seelye was cited with disorderly conduct, underage alcohol consumption and possession and public drunkenness.
Asia Smith, 21, of 317 S.
Market St., Selinsgrove, will be cited with furnishing alcohol to Seelye, police said.
Playworld program set
LEWISBURG — A local manufacturer of playground equipment will be giving a presentation Saturday on the company’s use of “lean” manufacturing techniques and other green initiatives.
Playworld Systems will host visitors starting at 10 a.m. at its 1000 Buffalo Road plant, where company officials will discuss their pursuit of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for their facilities, grounds and operations through the U.S.
The event is part of the Linn Conservancy’s Caring for Communities Earth Month Celebration.
The LEED program was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Director of Environmental and Materials Engineering Curtis Cleveland will lead the session, which includes a tour of the company’s main facility. The presentation also will include LEED engineering consultants and sustainable landscapers.
