MIDDLEBURG — MIDDLEBURG — Snyder County President Judge Harold F. Woelfel Jr. will appoint a new member to the Snyder County board of elections before the end of the month to take the place of Snyder County Commissioner Malcolm Derk, whose name will appear on the May primary ballot for a position with the U.S. House.
Derk announced his resignation from the board Wednesday. Derk, a Republican, will be running for a seat in the 10th Congressional District, occupied by incumbent Chris Carney, a Democrat.
Anyone interested in serving in that position should submit a resume to Judge Woelfel at the Judge’s Chambers, Snyder County Courthouse, P.O. Box 217, Middleburg, PA 17842, by Dec. 31.
