SELINSGROVE— Robert R. Stewart Jr. made it easy for state police to arrest him for driving under the influence of alcohol when he walked into the Selinsgrove station asking to speak with a trooper.
Trooper Nathan Wenzel was working at the front desk at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 5 when Stewart, 57, of 97 Shepherd Lane, Middleburg, drove up alone to the Penn Township station in Snyder County, walked into the lobby and asked to speak to an officer about a “past incident,” the criminal complaint said.
Wenzel said Stewart smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words.
Stewart admitted he’d been drinking earlier in the evening and that he drove his Dodge Dakota pickup truck to the police station, court records said.
He allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. A test later determined his blood-alcohol level was 0.10 percent, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent. Driving under the influence and careless driving charges were filed against Stewart at District Judge John T. Robinson’s office.
