WASHINGTONVILLE – Gerard M. Anstadt was on his way home when his truck veered into snow and it struck a concrete bridge abutment Thursday.
Anstadt, 63, of 138 Smith Road, Danville, wasn’t hurt.
His 1999 Ford F-150 cobalt blue pickup truck was demolished in the crash, which occurred about 12:15 p.m.
“I was four miles from home,” said Anstadt who had been at the farm he and his brother have that was owned by their late parents in Lycoming County.
Anstadt had been hunting deer earlier in the day and didn’t get a deer.
“It pulled the tire right in,” Anstadt said of hitting the snow and the bridge.
Tpr. Chad Rarig, of the state police at Milton, said the truck was traveling south on Stamm Road in Derry Township. “The center of the truck punched it pretty good,” he said of it colliding with the far end of the abutment.
The accident occurred two miles from Washingtonville and near the village of Strawberry Ridge.
Responding were a Danville ambulance, Washingtonville and Valley Township fire companies and fire police.
Because it appears driver error was involved, Rarig said a citation may be issued.
