Fund established to help Snyder County fire victims

BEAVER SPRINGS — The Beaver Springs Fire Company has established an account to assist company volunteers who lost their home to a fire earlier this week.

The home of Rich and Leslie Trader, of Route 235 South, was gutted after a fire ripped through the ranch-style structure about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Donations may be sent to M&T; Bank, 19059 Route 522, Beaver Springs, PA 17812, in care of the Trader Benefit.

According to Beaver Springs Fire Chief Nick Weader, a fire marshal on Thursday determined the cause of the fire to be faulty wiring somewhere between the electrical panel box and the water heater in the basement of the home.

The cost of damage is still unknown.

Weader said the Traders are currently staying at a hotel through the assistance of the Red Cross. After their home is torn down, they plan to rebuild.

Rich serves with the fire police, and Leslie is a member of the fire company’s auxiliary. They have lived in the home for 10 years, and care for three children, ages 5, 8 and 18.
