SUNBURY — A Sunbury man driving in the left lane of the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Sunday evening saw the driver of a vehicle in the right lane pointing a loaded handgun at him, state police said.

Police identified the driver with the gun as Dane Christopher Bamford, 23, of 1574 Tioga St., Coal Township.

Bamford was following a vehicle driven by Todd C. Hollenbach, 46, of Sunbury, across the bridge at about 5:11 p.m. Sunday, according to arrest documents.

Hollenbach moved into the left driving lane of the bridge in front of Bamford, apparently angering him.Bamford then passed Hollenbach in the right lane, moved back in front of him and jammed on his brakes, police said.

He then moved back into the right lane, and when Hollenbach came abreast of his vehicle, Bamford allegedly picked up a loaded revolver and pointed it at Hollenbach, according to police.

As Hollenbach left the bridge, he saw a Sunbury police officer and pointed out Bamford to him. The officer was able to stop Bamford and hold him until a state trooper arrived. The bridge is in Upper Augusta Township.

Bamford was arraigned on charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person by on-call District Judge William F. Kear, of Milton, who set bail at $10,000.
