RICHFIELD — A fire destroyed a mobile home and a small house Tuesday west of Ridge Road off Heister Valley Road in Richfield.
“I watched it burn,” said Carolyn Arndt, secretary of the Richfield Fire Company Auxiliary, who was on her way to the voting booths when she saw the structures engulfed in flames.
One man lived in the mobile home, and a mother and daughter lived in a small adjacent house, according to Dale Maneval, fire chief.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, Maneval said, but is not being considered suspicious.
The initial call was received shortly after 1 p.m.
Both structures are total losses, he said.
The fire did not spread beyond those structures.
Approximately 50 firefighters from Richfield, Mount Pleasant Mills, Middleburg and McAlisterville responded. They remained on the scene for about two hours.
