COAL TOWNSHIP — Two drivers were taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment after a collision Thursday morning in Coal Township, township police said.
Paul Kanour, 54, of Shamokin, was traveling north on Route 61 in a 1990 Ford Tempo when police said Donna Murray, 59, of Kulpmont, driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, pulled from Hospital Road into the path of Kanour’s vehicle.
Both cars sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene.
The investigation into the accident is continuing. Charges are pending, officers said.
The drivers’ conditions were unavailable from the Danville hospital.
Assisting at the scene were Shamokin Police Chief John Brown and Shamokin patrolmen Darwin Tobias, Shane Mowery and William Miner.
Fire departments responding were the Coal Township Rescue Squad, Uniontown Fire Company and Maine Fire Company.
Area Services and the Mount Carmel ambulance also assisted.
