Mifflinburg VFW to give $12,000 to four kids' groups

— MIFFLINBURG -- Four groups that help children in various ways will benefit from $12,000 donations from the Mifflinburg VFW 1964, which will present each with a check this Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Terry Walls, VFW post manager, said representatives from the following organizations will be there to receive the gifts:

• $4,000 to the Mifflinburg Midget Football League
• $2,000 to a myocarditis charity through Jennifer Wagner. Myocarditis is a disease that causes inflammation of the heart muscle
• $2,000  U12 Softball for girls age 12 and under
• $4,000 to Mifflinburg AYSO soccer.
