MILTON — A Milton man facing a slew of charges in two theft cases waived his right to preliminary hearings Wednesday.
Tanner Lee Shade, 18, of Shakespeare Road, is charged with two counts of theft, loitering and criminal mischief in a December incident, according to court documents. Last week, Shade was charged with a variety of offenses, including theft, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief, in an unrelated case, according to court documents.
He next faces Northumberland County Court action. His arraignment is set for March 4.
On Dec. 5, state police were called to a home on Frederick Road in East Chillisquaque Township, where the homeowner, an acquaintance of Shade’s, reported that he had found Shade standing by the open driver’s side door of the victim’s pickup truck, police said. Shade threw a set of metal car ramps into the back of the pickup and ran, police said.
Upon inspection, the victim reported several items were missing, including $15 in cash, three shotgun shells and a flashlight. The victim also noticed a subwoofer was missing from his porch.
A witness then told police he saw Shade run to a waiting SUV and take off, police said.
Shade was charged Jan. 8 in connection with that incident.
On Jan. 25, Shade’s grandfather reported that he believed Shade had stolen a motorcycle and driven it to his property, police said. Shortly after that, the owners of the Susquehanna Motorcycle Club, 2800 Shakespeare Road in West Chillisquaque Township, reported a break-in and said a motorcycle had been stolen.
The victims reported a rear window had been broken, and keys, money, four liquor bottles, beer bottles, membership patches and tools were taken, according to court documents.
The victims also positively identified the blue 2004 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide found at Shade’s grandfather’s home, officers said.
Shade was taken into custody and admitted to taking the items, which were returned to the victims, police said.
Shade waived his right to the hearings in front of District Judge Richard Cashman. He is being held in the Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
