NORTHUMBERLAND — A Watsontown man faces numerous charges after Point Township police said he broke into a house and took up residence.
Linn Davis, 32, of West Seventh Street, Watsontown, is charged with loitering and prowling, burglary, criminal trespass, theft and criminal mischief stemming from several incidents Dec. 18-20, according to court documents.
Township police said Ralph Baez called to report someone standing outside near the deck of his home at 712 Susquehanna Trail smoking a cigarette at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 18. Baez met with police and provided a description of the person and said the person probably had been inside his home because a light that was on had been turned off and a piece of wood used to seal the deck’s sliding glass door had been moved.
Officers were unable to find the person at that time, police said.
On Dec. 19, Linn was reported to police for loitering near Baez’s home, officers said. Linn fit the description given by Baez, who identified Linn as the person he saw outside his home, police said.
Later that night, Baez called police to report that someone had been staying in his home because of debris he found in the dwelling, police said.
A newspaper flier was on the floor of the bathroom, a glass bowl and spoon had been left on the counter in the kitchen and a frying pan and cookie sheet with a burned pinkish substance were found on the open oven rack, police said.
Laundry not belonging to Baez was found in the laundry room, police said.
Missing from the home were a pair of shoes, a blue bath towel and a brown jacket, officers said.
Linn was arraigned by District Judge Richard Cashman and committed to the Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing for Linn is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 2.
