MIFFLINBURG — A 16-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries when he ran his bicycle into a car while descending a downhill curve on Wildwood Road, near Route 104, in Limestone Township, Union County, state police at Milton said.
The youth, who was not identified by police because of his age, was riding west on Wildwood Road at 6:50 p.m. Monday when he crossed over the center line and hit head-on a 1994 Toyota Tercel, driven by Lena Jo Kurtz, 19, of Mifflinburg.
The boy hit the Toyota’s windshield and was thrown to the road.
He was taken by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Without his name, his condition could not be determined. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
Kurtz was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The hood and windshield of her car were damaged.
Fire and rescue personnel from Mifflinburg and New Berlin assisted.
