SUNBURY — Careless driving tripped up a suspected drug dealers Wednesday, leading to discovery of 28 bags of heroin and 18.2 grams of crack cocaine.
Jeremy Allan Drummond, 36, of 685 Second Ave., Williamsport, and Lamar Tyrone Frederick, 36, of 553 Robeson St., Reading, were arrested by Mount Carmel Police at about 2:20 a.m. on Route 54.
Drummond was charged two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy.
Frederick, who gave a fictitious name and was taken to Sunbury for digital fingerprint identification, was charged with the same, plus making false statements, false identification to law enforcement, driving under a suspended license, travelling outside lanes marked for traffic and careless driving.
Sunbury police discovered Frederick is also wanted by Union, Berks and Lycoming police under various warrants.
He was arraigned before Judge Hugh Jones and transported to Northumberland COunty Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Officer David J. Stamets, Mathew Dillamn and Jason Drumheller of Mount Carmel Police, members of the Northumberland-Montour County Drug Task Force, were credited with discovering the drugs secreted on the suspects’ persons and in their vehicle.
