MANDATA — Leck Kill and Dalmatia elementary schools in the Line Mountain district will close after the upcoming academic year, becoming the ninth and 10th buildings in the Valley to shutter in a three-year period.
Come fall 2013, all Line Mountain pupils in kindergarten through fourth grade will attend Trevorton Elementary, school board member Lawrence Neidig said Saturday.
Fifth- and sixth-graders will move to Line Mountain Junior-Senior High, where a wing will be added and about 10 classrooms built, and join seventh-graders through 12th-graders.
“It wasn’t a hard decision (to close the schools),” said Neidig, one of seven directors to vote in favor of the move. “We feel it’s a better education for students to have all the classes of one grade in the same building.”
