MIFFLINTOWN — A van driver was killed at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday when he pulled from a stop sign into the path of a truck driven by a McAlisterville man, according to state police at Lewistown.
John P. Yoder, 66, of Port Royal, was fatally injured when he tried to turn left in front of the truck driven by Charles L. Ryan, 59, police said.
They said Yoder was attempting to turn left from Oakland Road onto Route 35 in Fayette Township, Juniata County, and entered the intersection before it was clear. Ryan’s truck struck the driver’s side of Yoder’s van.
Police said Yoder was pinned inside the van and pronounced dead at the scene.
