SUNBURY — The two Northumberland County women killed in a nearly head-on crash this morning were not wearing seatbelts when their vehicles collided on Route 147, about seven miles south of Sunbury, state police at Stonington said.
The victims were identified this afternoon as Amelia D. Shrawder, 46, of River Road, Dalmatia, and Laurie J. Holt, 49, of School House Road, Sunbury. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene by the Northumberland County Coroner.
State police at Stonington said Shrawder was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Venture south on Route 147 just after 8 a.m. when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided nearly head-on with a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven northbound by Holt.
Route 147 was closed for several hours between Hallowing Run Road and Fishers Ferry. Volunteers from the Sunbury and Upper Augusta Township fire departments assisted at the scene.
