MIDDLEBURG - Middleburg police said a local truck driver hit the McClure municipal shed, then drove off without telling anyone. When police tracked him down, Levi Brubaker argued with a police officer over the estimated cost of repairs and then failed to pay anything at all.
The original accident took place in April when McClure officials notified Middleburg Police that someone had hit the side wall of the borough shed, knocking it one foot inward. Police said that it appeared that driver had been trying to turn around and made a miscalculation while backing up.
Middleburg Police first contacted Brubaker on May 31. Police said that when questioned about the crash, Brubaker allegedly replied that while he had not contacted McClure Borough or local police, he had told an acquaintance, who he'd hoped would pass a message along to the appropriate officials.
After Brubaker questioned the estimated damage costs, police gave him five days to make payment. Brubaker ignored that order, police said. He was charged with criminal mischief, careless driving and causing accidental damage to property.
