Carney to hold meeting in Northumberland County

SUNBURY — U.S. Rep. Christopher P. Carney is planning a town hall meeting in Northumberland County for this month, but no location or date have been selected, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Carney’s office said a Monday meeting in Wayne County has been moved to a larger venue to accommodate the large crowd expected to attend.

“We always try to make sure that everyone who wants to be heard has a voice in the process. That’s why we do a town hall meeting in every county every year, and that’s why we have decided to enlarge the venue in Wayne County,” Carney said. “There are a lot of important questions and concerns that need to be addressed, and this new location will allow a greater number of residents to participate and get information. We have held 30-plus town hall meetings, and I still look forward to getting out there and talking with my constituents every time.”

In addition to the Honesdale event, Carney has meetings planned on Thursday in LaPorte, Sullivan County, and Aug. 24 in Dickson City, Lackawanna County.

Carney spokesman Vincent Rongione said the congressman will hold similar programs in Snyder and Montour counties this year. Carney already has visited Union County.
